We are proud to introduce our feature visual artist,
Melanie Morstad.
Melanie grew up beneath the big skies of Saskatchewan, and cannot help but have an intimate connection to the land and skies. A passion for landscape and nature's beauty has long inspired her creative process. Her paintings express the emotion of a fleeting moment or the enduring presence of the land. Trees reveal to her their figure-like forms and gestures, and it is their stories she paints. Melanie loves to experiment with bold colour combinations, pouring and dripping paint and playing with textures on the canvas. Her paintings are an extension of my energy and love of life.
Currently residing in Calgary on the ridge of Fish Creek Park with her husband and two sons, Melanie is actively involved in the Alberta arts scene. Her studio is part of the Burns Visual Arts Society, located in the funky neighbourhood of Ramsay. Melanie serves on the boards of Burns and the Ranche at Fish Creek Restoration Society and is a member of the Leighton Art Centre, the Crowsnest Pass Art Association and the Alberta Society of Artists. Her work can be found in collections around the world.
Some of her current work is showcased here on the website but we would encourage you to come into the store and see her featured work.
